Phil got his first guitar at age 9, but at age 12, after seeing the ‘Beatles’ live , thought, ‘that’s a good job’, and decided to start playing seriously. Never quite equalling the dizzying fame of Beatlemania, however, Phil has rubbed shoulders with some of the greats throughout his lengthy career, having played in early Australian bands, Pirana and Blackfeather, also played with some of Aussie’s rock royalty, namely, Normie Rowe, Stevie Wright, Renee Geyer, G.Wayne Thomas, Kevin Borich & Doug Parkinson, also various members of “Zoot” & “Little River Band”, to name a few. Also supported Australian bands Split Enz, Dragon, Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs, and Ross Wilson’s “Mondo Rock”. In the 70’s, he supported ‘Wishbone Ash’, appeared on “Countdown” and continued on as the support act for “Blondie”s Australian tour, with Lindsay Bjerre from “TamamShud”. Phil cut a single on the Airborne label, released by Polygram, in the 80’s, and toured the South Sea Islands as the resident band on the Sitmar line cruise ship, “Fairstar” (the Fun ship). More recently, he has had the exclusive honour of playing percussion and singing backing vocals on stage with Joe Walsh of the Eagles. Phil released his first original solo album, “Love Never Dies” in 1999 & now has a young family and teaches guitar, bass and ukulele from home and still plays gigs up & down the East Coast of Australia, based in Forster.
